News From the Fredericton Chapter

Fredericton CHRP Lending Library
Resource books are available for borrowing by members interested in studying for their CHRP NKE exams. Access to these resources is being made available at the Harriet Irving Library with an "Extramural Membership Card" from UNB ($20 annual fee for non-students and non-alumni) from the Commons Service Desk at the entrance to the library. UNB students and alumi have access with the library card. Follow these steps for accessing codes corresponding to your desired textbook: Go to www.lib.unb.ca, click on Quest, then Course Reserves, type CHRP and hit Course Number. You will see codes (i.e. PB C2) which is the code to give the attendant at the Commons Service Desk. A 3-day out-of-library limit is placed on these resources. Any questions can be directed to Candace Morgan at morgan@unb.ca.

Fredericton Mentorship Program
New this year to the Chapter’s mentorship program is a partnership with UNB’s MBA degree program. The MBA Professional Development weekly session is a core course which promotes partnering with the business community in a formal conference-style venue featuring an array of topics and subject-matter experts. The Fredericton Chapter is ensuring HR professional participation at events that are focused on HR issues. This gives the business community an early introduction to the grad students who may wish to recruit them upon graduation. It also provides the students with an early introduction to networking and developing skills that are necessary in the world of business. A win-win recipe for the students, the business community, the province and especially our profession.
