Mentorship
in Fredericton
by Karen LeBlanc, Mentorship Coordinator
Report
on the HRANB Fredericton Chapter Mentorship Program
The
last two mentorship projects have been successful with 38 participants
in the pilot project and 32 participants in 2006/2007. Partners
in the project included the HRANB Fredericton Chapter, the Department
of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, and Enterprise
Fredericton.
Our
first step was to establish an advisory committee: Karen LeBlanc,
Shelly O’Donnell, Chad Shearer, Kathi McNeill, Amy Cameron
and Jason Scarbro.
We
started the program in October, 2006 by hosting an information session
about the program for approximately 40 participants. If individuals
were interested in participating as a mentor or as a mentee, they
were asked to complete a registration form. The forms were then
used to help the committee match mentees with appropriate mentors.
Once we had individuals matched, we held an orientation session
in November. Then we held a networking session with HRANB in December.
In
March, we held a session on Resumes and Executive Recruitment in
early March and another session on Competencies in late March for
mentorship participants. Our next step will be to hold an evaluation
and feedback session, and a final event in June.
